• Group Advising Sessions : Free information sessions on studying in the USA
  
  Attend USEF’s Group Advising session to learn about studying in the USA. Topics include admission requirements, the application procedure, costs, scholarships, and standardized tests. Sessions are held every Friday morning and are FREE of cost. If you want to study in the USA, attending USEF’s Group Advising session should be your first step! To attend, register at the library front desk starting Mondays.
  
  

• Individual Advising Sessions : Free individual counseling for students applying to U.S. colleges
  
  An Educational Adviser who has trained in the United States provides one-on-one advising, assisting you with college selection and providing guidance specific to your case. FREE of cost, these half-hour sessions are available Monday to Thursday. To register for Individual Advising, students must first attend USEF’s Group Advising.
  
  

• Library Services : Books and other resources available at the USEF Library
  
  At USEF’s library, you can access comprehensive, current information on higher education in the USA. USEF’s library houses college directories and guides, college catalogs, test preparation books, application essay books, and more. You may access the library entirely FREE of cost; membership is NOT required. Books are available for reference only and may not be checked out. Library hours are from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, MONDAY through FRIDAY.
  
  

• Reference Materials for Sale : Books and other resources available at the USEF Library
  
  USEF sells a variety of reference materials on studying in the USA. Guidebooks, test preparation material, CDs, test bulletins, and other relevant materials are sold at subsidized rates. Click here for a list of materials currently available for purchase.
  
  

• Transcript Attestation : Mark-sheet attestation service for Nepali students
  
  Students who are applying for admission to American universities may have their transcripts ("mark-sheets") attested by USEF. Recognizing that academic institutions in Nepal and other parts of Asia do not issue second copies of transcripts, USEF has provided attestation service for over 20 years. The majority of universities in the United States will accept attested copies (in-lieu of originals) that have our office seal, the educational adviser’s signature, and an attached cover letter.

  Please follow these instructions if you need to have your transcripts attested by USEF:

  1. Bring all originals and photocopies of your transcripts and certificates to our office. We will review your documents before we accept them.
  2. Pay the required attestation fees, currently, Rs 25 per page.
  3. Return the following day to pick up your attested copies unless otherwise instructed.
     

  Depending on which schools you attended in the past and the origin of your transcripts, USEF may send your transcripts to outside agencies for further verification. This may delay the attestation process. Furthermore, USEF will attest the following documents only:

  • Mark-sheets/Transcripts
  • Degree completion, provisional, or character certificates

  USEF does not attest:

  • Financial documents
  • Standardized test scores
  • Letters of recommendation

  At USEF, you can access current information about various standardized tests for admission into American colleges and universities. • Prometric Test Center : Test center information for students taking computer-based or Internet-based tests at USEF

• PRE TEST Computer Lab : Practice tests for TOEFL, SAT I, GRE, and GMAT

  Familiarize yourself with standardized test content and format at USEF’s computer lab. USEF offers practice tests for TOEFL, SAT, GRE and GMAT in a simulated test environment. Advance registration with payment of Rs. 250 per pre-test is required. Per-tests are offered Monday-Friday at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. All multiple-choice sections are scored.

• Student Visa Information Sessions : Free information sessions on student visas
  
  For students who have received I-20s (admission into U.S. colleges), USEF offers free information sessions about student visas to the United States. Sessions are held with a US Embassy Consular Officer monthly during peak student visa application seasons. Advance registration is required.
  
  

• Pre-Departure Orientation : Information sessions for students who are about to depart for the U.S.
  
  After you receive a student visa to start your studies in the USA, register to attend USEF’s Pre-Departure Orientation, a workshop about cultural issues, academic matters, visa regulations, and adjusting to life in the USA. Offered in July and December, these sessions offer valuable advice, insight, and tips before you go!
  
  

• College Information Sessions
  
  USEF-Nepal is often the site of US college information sessions conducted by college representatives for interested Nepali students. For more information, please contact adviserusef@fulbrightnepal.org.np at least three weeks before your visit to Nepal.
