Opportunities for Nepali students and scholars to study or conduct research in the United State are announced in the newspapers, radio and on this website. The competitions are nation-wide and open. Selections are made by the Fulbright Commission's bi-national Board of Directors after an intensive review of applications, English language screening, and interviews.

The Selection Committee has nominated the following applicants for the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program and for the Hubert H. Humphrey Long-Term English Language Program for the academic year 2010-2011.

Fulbright Student (Masters-Level) Awards
Grants of a maximum of two-year duration are awarded to Nepali students in any field except Medicine, Engineering and Agriculture to pursue masters degrees in the United States. Each year the Nepal Fulbright Commission awards from four to six such scholarships to Nepali students through a nationwide competition. Watch for the Fulbright Competition announcement in February. Notices are usually advertised in the daily newspapers like Kathmandu Post, The Himalayan Times and is also posted on the Commission's website.

Fulbright Science and Technology Ph.D. 2009 Award
Fulbright Science and Technology Ph.D. scholarship is a worldwide program, and is designed to be among the most prestigious international scholarships in science and technology. Those selected would begin their studies in the US beginning August-September 2010. Grantees will be enrolled for PhD study at top U.S. universities in the fields of science, technology, or engineering. Eligible fields include: Aeronautics and Astronomics/Aeronautical Engineering, Astronomy/Planetary Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Sciences/Engineering, Engineering (electrical, chemical, civil, mechanical, ocean, and petroleum), Environmental Science/Engineering, Geology/Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, Information Sciences/Engineering, Materials Science/Engineering, Mathematics, Neuroscience/Brain and Cognitive Sciences, Oceanography, and Physics.

Fulbright Post-Doctoral Research Program
Periodically, the Nepal Fulbright Commission makes two or three Post Doctoral grants to Nepali academics who wish to conduct research at US universities. The grants are usually for six months of residence in the US. The Post Doctoral grants are not always offered every year, but when they are, the competition is usually announced in September, and notices are usually published in the daily newspapers like Kathmandu Post, The Himalayan Times and is also posted on the Commission's website.
