Opportunities for Nepali students and scholars to study or conduct research in the United State are announced in the newspapers, radio and on this website. The competitions are nation-wide and open. Selections are made by the Fulbright Commission's bi-national Board of Directors after an intensive review of applications, English language screening, and interviews.

  • Mr. Puspa Sharma :  Program Officer of the Linkages between Trade, Development & Poverty Reduction Program and Farmers’ Rights Program at the Forum for Protection of Public Interest (Pro Public) in Anam Nagar, Kathmandu, in International Trade.  He started his studies at the University of Denver in Denver, Colorado beginning August 27, 2007.  Prior to his studies, he participated in a US State Department-paid pre-academic program at Portland State University in Portland, Oregon.

  • Mr. Kayur Shrestha :  Finance Officer at the WHO-Program for Immunization Preventable Diseases (IPD) in Pulchowk, Lalitpur, in Business Administration.  He started his studies at Suffolk University in Boston, Massachusetts beginning August 24, 2007.  Prior to that he participated in a US State Department-paid pre-academic program at Miami Dade College in Miami, Florida.
  • Mr. Raju Gautam :  Veterinary Officer at the Regional Veterinary Laboratory (of the Department of Livestock Services at the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives) in Dhangadhi, Kailali, in Veterinary Epidemiology.  He started his studies at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana beginning August 20, 2007.  Prior to that he participated in a US State Department-paid pre-academic program at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, Nebraska.
  • Mr. Anil Poudel :  Consultant at UNICEF in Lalitpur, in Social Work.  He started his studies at the Washington University in St. Louis in Missouri beginning August 29, 2007.  Prior to his studies, he participated in a US State Department-paid pre-academic program at Miami Dade College in Miami, Florida.
  • Mr. Sijan Raj Baral : Lecturer in the Dept. of Languages & Mass Communication at Kathmandu University in Dhulikhel, in Mass Communication/Journalism.  He started his studies at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio beginning August 27, 2007.  Prior to his studies, he participated in a US State Department-paid pre-academic program in New York, New York.

  • Ms. Lisa Shrestha : Lecturer at Kathmandu Engineering College in Kalimati, Kathmandu and Structural Engineer at Astra Development Networks Pvt. Ltd. in Tripureshwor, Kathmandu.  She started her studies in Civil Engineering at the University of California – Berkeley beginning August 27, 2007.  Prior to her studies, she participated in a US State Department funded pre-academic program at Miami Dade College in Miami, Florida.

  • Dr. Kunjani Joshi : Lecturer in the Department of Biology at Patan Multiple Campus of Tribhuvan University in Patan Dhoka, Lalitpur, to conduction research on “Phylogeny and Biogeography of Swertia (Gentianaceae) of the Mountainous Regions of Nepal.”  Here host is Senior Research Scientist Dr. Jianhua Li at The Harvard University Herbaria in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
  • Dr. Nanda Bahadur Maharjan :   Associate Professor in the Central Department of Physics at Tribhuvan University in Kiritpur, Kathmandu, is conducting research on “Investigation of Electronic Properties of Nano-Materials and Bio-Materials.”  His host is Professor Tar Prasad Das in the Department of Physics at the State University of New York – Albany.
  • Dr. Doj Raj Khanal :  Senior Scientist in the Animal Health Research Division at National Animal Science, Nepal Agricultural Research Council (NARC), is conducting research on “Evaluating Interrelationship of Minerals and Khari Disease towards Determining Etiological Agents and Improving Rural Livelihoods of Buffalo Farmers of Far Western Nepal.”  His host is Prof. Dr. Anthony P. Knight in the Department of Clinical Sciences at the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado.
